Women carrying water jars, elders in conversation, a child, and passersby fill the stone street, giving the scene the feeling of a public call to repentance in ancient Israel.

The setting evokes the biblical pattern of prophets speaking where the people gathered—at gates, courts, and streets—bringing God’s word into the ordinary life of the community.
