38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” After he had said this, he went back outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him.39 But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”40 They cried out again, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
John 19
4 Pilate went out again and said to them, “See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him.”5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!”6 When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.”
Luke 23
13 Als aber Pilatus die Hohenpriester und die Obersten und das Volk zusammengerufen hatte,14 sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr habt diesen Menschen zu mir gebracht, als mache er das Volk abwendig; und siehe, ich habe ihn vor euch verhört, und habe an diesem Menschen keine Schuld gefunden, betreffs dessen ihr ihn anklaget;15 aber auch Herodes nicht, denn ich habe euch zu ihm gesandt, und siehe, nichts Todeswürdiges ist von ihm getan.16 Ich will ihn nun züchtigen und losgeben.17 Er mußte ihnen aber notwendig auf das Fest einen losgeben.18 Die ganze Menge schrie aber zugleich und sagte: Hinweg mit diesem, gib uns aber den Barabbas los!19 Derselbe war wegen eines gewissen Aufruhrs, der in der Stadt geschehen war, und wegen eines Mordes ins Gefängnis geworfen.20 Pilatus rief ihnen nun wiederum zu, indem er Jesum losgeben wollte.21 Sie aber schrieen dagegen und sagten: Kreuzige, kreuzige ihn!22 Er aber sprach zum dritten Mal zu ihnen: Was hat dieser denn Böses getan? Ich habe keine Ursache des Todes an ihm gefunden; ich will ihn nun züchtigen und losgeben.23 Sie aber lagen ihm an mit großem Geschrei und forderten, daß er gekreuzigt würde. Und ihr und der Hohenpriester Geschrei nahm überhand.24 Pilatus aber urteilte, daß ihre Forderung geschehe.25 Er gab aber den los, der eines Aufruhrs und Mordes wegen ins Gefängnis geworfen war, welchen sie forderten; Jesum aber übergab er ihrem Willen.
Mark 15
6 Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked.7 And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas.8 And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them.9 And he answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”10 For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up.11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Barabbas instead.12 And Pilate again said to them, “Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?”13 And they cried out again, “Crucify him.”14 And Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him.”15 So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
